Steve Pruitt, President of Retail
Steve Pruitt currently serves as President of Retail for Scout & Molly’s. Steve is a retail industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in merchandise planning, leadership coaching, and retail financials. Steve began his career at a national merchandising planning firm, and has worked with some of the most successful independent apparel stores across the country as both an analyst and trusted consultant. In 2004, he founded Blacks Retail, offering merchants highly specialized planning and consulting services based on innovative technologies. Steve is now considered one of the top retail industry analysts in the U.S. and brings with him a solid understanding of retail best practices, sales strategies, and merchandise and financial planning. He oversees all retail activities for Scout & Molly’s with a focus on helping franchisees grow their businesses.
Lisa Kornstein, Founder and Creative Director
Lisa Kornstein is the original founder of Scout & Molly’s and now also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Scout Franlogic Development, LLC. Lisa opened the very first Scout & Molly’s boutique in 2002. The store was named after her beloved Labrador retrievers, who for many years, could be found lounging in the store. Lisa has over a decade of experience in owning and operating a successful boutique business. She has a proven ability to pick out trend styles and also to make her customers feel as though they are shopping in the comfort of their best friend’s closet. Lisa is passionate about incorporating philanthropy into her business model. She is an active volunteer with the National MS Society. That particular cause is one she holds close to her heart since her own diagnosis with the disease over 6 years ago. She is also involved with Saving Grace Animal Rescue as well as various other charitable groups throughout the community. Lisa has a drive unparalleled by many and her desire to take Scout & Molly’s nationwide is propelling her forward with great enthusiasm.
John Simon, Executive Vice President of Operations and Development
John brings to the table three decades of experience in franchising both in development and operations with companies like Maaco (Regional Director of Operations), Firemaster (Vice President of Field Operations and Operations Manager), and Line-X (Director of Franchise Sales). John also worked as Vice President of Mail Boxes Etc. (now the UPS Store) for six years early in his franchising career. He has earned numerous achievements which represent his leadership and operational commitment to excellence in franchising.
Marisa Garcia, Director of Operations and Strategy
Marisa is our Director of Retail Support & Strategy, a graduate from Florida International University where she studied Business. Marisa comes to us from JOOR as the Director of Retail Engagement, where she spearheaded the retail side of the business and managed the creation of the JOOR Retailer Application–used here at Scout & Molly’s. Her prime responsibility at Scout & Molly’s is working with franchisees from opening to profitability. Marisa is focused on ways to drive the profitability of our franchisee’s business through strategic operations. Marisa is a Fashion lover of all things chic and black, don’t think we’ve seen her wear color yet. When she isn’t brainstorming ways to drive the franchise forward, Marisa can be found either online shopping or dancing.
Piya Mewa, Jr Business Analyst
Piya is our Jr. Business Analyst who comes to us from Temple University where she studied Management Information Systems. Before Scout & Molly’s, Piya worked at Pep Boys as a Business Analyst where she contributed in the nationwide transition from magnetic stripe technology to chip cards. Piya is an expert in flow charts, analytics, creating presentations, regression testing and all things forward thinking. At Scout & Molly’s, Piya will be creating, reviewing and managing all franchisee budgets, assist with eCommerce, and provide POS vendor support to maintain individual franchisee success. Asides from all things technology, Piya loves fashion. She was born in Bangladesh and visits her homeland every two years while speaking Bengali fluently.
Larry Barto, Real Estate Manager
Larry Barto currently serves as Real Estate Manager for Scout & Molly’s. Larry Barto brings credentials as both a commercial real estate professional and as a multi-unit food service executive. Larry has completed leases / opened new store locations for hundreds of franchise retail and restaurant locations throughout the country for companies such as Rita’s Italian Ice, K9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel, United Financial Services Group, Popeye’s Chicken ‘N Biscuits, Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, and The Gravity Vault – indoor rock climbing. As an independent owner, Larry operated a five-unit restaurant company. Larry coordinates with franchisees and suppliers on Scout & Molly’s real estate, pre-open checklists and store fit outs.
Emily DeMaggio, Director of Marketing and Sales Training
Emily DiMaggio currently serves as Director of Marketing & Sales for Scout & Molly’s. For over 35 years, Emily has honed her innovative clienteling and team building approach across a number of industries including finance, media, technology, non-profit and retail. She has worked for established FORTUNE 500 companies as well as for start-ups. Emily has seamlessly integrated marketing and sales divisions to repeatedly capture market share. As the BLACKS Sales Management Coach, Emily oversees Scout & Molly’s sales-team building and client-in-store-experience initiatives as well as works with CRUSH to orchestrate marketing direction to grow the Franchisees’ operations.
Stacy Ramirez, Senior Buyer and Director of Training
Following two generations of women who helped inspire her passion for brand power, Stacy’s interests are firmly rooted in the fashion industry. With a strong background in relationship building, she is eager to stamp a unique signature on the training aspect of her new role with Scout & Molly’s. Stacy’s career milestones include positions with retail giants: Saks Fifth Avenue, Best Buy and H&R Block. She is now focusing her experience and business acumen to promote brands for various designers in the wholesale apparel world. Captivated by the Scout & Molly’s structure and philosophy, her sales expertise and people management skills are the perfect fit for our style. In her personal time, Stacy is a weekend warrior; keeping active outdoors with her three sons, ages 4, 6 and 19, and their Puggle & Shih Tzu, Myla and Coco!
Alexis Grippi, Jr. Buyer
Alexis is our Junior Buyer, an alum from Immaculata University where she majored in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Buying. Before joining Scout & Molly’s, Alexis worked at QVC for two years, supporting the buying team with apparel, footwear, jewelry and cookware. At Scout & Molly’s, Alexis researches vendors to determine which one best represents S&M, supports our head buyer and store owners with creating purchase orders, buying merchandise, and managing inventory. In addition, she regularly attends markets and assists in JOOR training. Alexis’s love for fashion goes beyond S&M which she shares with the world through her own fashion blog (www.amgfashions.com). Apart from fashion, Alexis is an animal lover and a mom to Remy, her four-year-old dog.
Howard L. Soloway, Director of Finance, CLU, ChFC, MSFS
Howard is the CEO of Titanium Wealth Advisors, LLC in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He has been a financial consultant for over thirty years. His areas of expertise include investments, insurance, accounting and finance. Prior to becoming a financial advisor, Howard held various positions including Financial Advisor/Agent for Mutual of New York, Vice President of Operations for United Health Clubs and Vice President of Operations for Continental Bank of Colorado. Howard is past president of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. He is responsible for overseeing all accounting and reporting functions at Scout & Molly’s.
